Grace is a Director and has extensive experience in litigation, dispute resolution and advisory work.

Her focus includes shipping and international trade, commercial disputes and international arbitration, including SIAC, SCMA, LMAA and HKIAC arbitrations. Having spent almost 3 years in Beijing working with Chinese clients, including State-Owned Entities, she is adept at understanding the unique needs of the Chinese market.

Prior to joining the firm, Grace was a Deputy Public Prosecutor/Deputy Senior State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers, Singapore where she prosecuted white collar crime, including corruption and financial and securities offences. She has had vast first-chair litigation experience, having successfully conducted trials in the State Courts as well as appeals in the High Court. During her tenure at AGC, she was also an adept legal advisor to law enforcement agencies, and worked with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, which regulates financial institutions in Singapore, on anti-money laundering regulatory and compliance matters.

Grace received her Bachelor of Laws from National University of Singapore, where she concurrently read and obtained her Bachelor of Economics in the pioneer batch of law and economics graduates. She later went on to read her Master of Laws in Columbia University, New York. Grace is dual qualified, having been admitted to the bar in both New York and Singapore. She was also appointed fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK. Grace is fluent in English and Mandarin.

Highlight matters include:

  • Secured an award in the region of USD 2.3 million in damages for repudiation of a charterparty.
  • Resolved an international contractual dispute for a large Chinese pharmaceutical for a deal worth more than 300 million Japanese Yen.
  • Represented the State in Public Prosecutor v Lam Leng Hung and others [2015] SGDC 326, [2017] 4 SLR 474, a complex, high-profile 142-day trial involving S$50million misappropriated by leaders of City Harvest Church. Assessed the economics assessment aspect of the case. Led discovery and document production of over 1,400 exhibits.
  • Successfully led the prosecution in Public Prosecutor v Peh Chew Seng [2013] SGDC 296, a corruption case involving a Deputy Director of Tan Tock Seng Hospital who attempted to obtain kickbacks from a S$18million public tender project for an Annex building. Defended the conviction on appeal by the defendant and resisted his application to refer the matter to the Court of Appeal.
