Kimarie is Director with Incisive. She has over 10 years’ experience in the areas of international trade and commodities, maritime and energy across the region.

Triple-qualified in Singapore, Hong Kong, and England & Wales, Kimarie is a litigation specialist and handles matters relating to international trade and transportation, oil & gas (including LNG), metals and mining, soft commodities, shipbuilding, offshore and construction, and insurance. Kimarie has been involved in several substantial arbitrations in Singapore, London and Hong Kong.

On the non-contentious side, Kimarie has assisted clients with trade finance and regulatory matters, and the drafting and review of contracts (both standard form GTCs and bespoke terms).

Prior to joining the firm, Kimarie worked in the commodities department of a leading international law firm in Hong Kong and Singapore.  She has in-depth industry knowledge, having completed a number of secondments in her previous tenure at an oil & gas major company, an international commodities trading company, a Norwegian P&I Club, and an international mining company.

Kimarie regularly contributes to established publications on trade and commodities, and maritime developments. She speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

Prior to joining the firm, Kimarie has advised on the following matters:

  • Korean and Singapore energy companies / LPG – represented clients in USD240m claims arising out of defaults by Chinese parties on several long-term LPG contracts concerning arbitrations in Singapore and Hong Kong.
  • Major Chinese NOC / oil and gas – represented clients in a series of 9 arbitrations in Singapore (both ad hoc and SIAC-administered).
  • Indonesian miners / coal – represented coal miners in a significant mining dispute (claims in excess of USD100million). The disputes arose from a long-term service contract between the owners of the mine and mining contractors, where the duration of the contract was for the life of the mine.
  • US miners / coal – represented major coal miner in a series of seven coal contracts of sale, where an award of circa. USD55 million was successfully obtained against a Chinese counterparty.
  • Major Chinese SOE / metals and mining – advised on various issues arising from the client’s trading and corporate activities, including regulatory aspects, freight and IP related matters.
  • Advising a bunker trader on a licensing application with the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore.
  • Advising an oil trading company on sanctions review.
  • Advising on regulatory overview framework for international trading company.
  • Advising on compliance with local regulations for oil storage.
  • Advising on compliance with local regulations (including HSSE aspects) for metal trader and warehousing of metals.
  • Advising a metal trader in Singapore on licensing requirements and exemptions for derivatives trading. 
  • Advising an oil major on trading and transportation of petroleum.
